Virtual Consultation Clinical Practice Policy
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines and procedures for the provision of high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services via virtual consultation to care homes. This policy aims to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and client-centered care while adhering to professional standards and regulatory requirements under UK law.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all Occupational Therapists providing virtual consultation services to care homes under the auspices of Care Home OT. It also encompasses care home staff responsible for facilitating and supporting virtual consultations and residents receiving Occupational Therapy services.
3. Regulatory Compliance
All virtual consultations conducted by Occupational Therapists must comply with relevant UK laws, regulations, and professional standards, including but not limited to:

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of proficiency and standards of conduct, performance, and ethics for occupational therapists.

4. Professional Conduct
Occupational Therapists providing virtual consultations are expected to adhere to professional standards of conduct, ethics, and clinical practice established by the HCPC. This includes:
